Travelski Express Ski Train

Ski Line are proud to have been appointed agents to sell the Travel Ski Express in that first winter. They tell us, we were the most successful agent in the UK. We are looking forward to enticing more of our clients to try the Eurostar train for their 2022/23 ski holiday.

The Travelski brand burst onto the UK market in 2021, after its parent company Travelfactory funded the expensive business of chartering a direct Eurostar service between London and the French Alps.

Incidentally, Travelfactory are owned by Compagnie des Alpes (CDA) (they own the best ski resorts, most loved by British skiers and boarders) It’s little surprise that you can only buy a ski holiday to one of their ski resorts! Apparently, CDA were concerned they would lose British skiers because of Brexit and the dramatic drop in chalet beds across their ski resorts. It’s nice to have such deep pockets that the answer is to charter a full train for the whole ski season!

The selling prices of the packages on the Travel Ski Express are fantastic, factor in the ski pass, the cost of going green isn’t a cost at all, you get a rebate! Prices start at £529 for a 3* apartment, return Eurostar, transfers and accommodation.

Unlike with a package holiday by air, especially in the summer of 2022, your holiday starts the minute you sit on the Eurostar, there isn’t any rip off ski carriage charges and no luggage limits. We think a ski holiday by train, is the best way to reach the French Alps without travel stress. This is especially the case for families.

Considering the carbon emissions, of your ski holiday, there is another important bonus to rail travel, The Planet Ski news feed suggested this Eurostar charter service will produce less carbon than 80 aircraft doing the same journey throughout the ski season… We are going to have to wake up to this at some point! But I won’t get all “Extinction Rebellion” our message is, that the train, is the best way to go skiing, whatever your reason, the environment, travel convenience, an extra day’s skiing or just a great ski deal to the best ski resorts in France. The train is the way to go.

This winter the service has got even better, Travelski listened to feedback, from us and from clients so some important issues have been updated.

The biggest change for this winter to a day service out and a night service back, will appeal more. Arriving on an early train, probably, not after the best nights sleep, raises health and safety concerns, especially, if you plan to ski via the first lift that morning. So, the new plan is to arrive in the afternoon. It’s safer and less of a rush to catch the train. You still get to ski on Saturday, which is always the quietest day of the week on most ski slopes, as it’s the main change-over day. The new timings of traveling out by day and back at night will have a bigger draw for families too. (There are a few exceptions around Christmas and New Year).

Another big improvement for this winter is the transfers between the station at Bourg St Maurice and Moutier to the ski resorts. The central resort drop-offs were unpopular, especially with families with young children. This year, where access permits, the transfers will be direct to the accommodation door.

For most weeks of the season, the trains now will depart London St Pancras on Saturday morning, arriving in Moutier and Bourg St Maurice later in the afternoon. On the return journey, the train will depart from the Alps on Saturday evening, traveling overnight to arrive back in London St Pancras on Sunday morning. Because of Christmas dates, different times will operate with some shorter duration holidays available to avoid the need to travel on important holiday dates.
