Ski Resorts for Snowboarders
You can see the colour drain from a snowboarder’s face with just a couple of well-chosen words, “flat area” and “drag lift!” Both are bad news for snowboarders. Watch their face light up with words like “Powder stash” and “between the trees”. Choosing the right resort for your boarding holiday is vital if you want a great week in the mountains.
For some snowboarders their sport is all about being off piste, or for others it’s about going between the piste and on the piste too. Other boarders head from terrain parks in search of jumps and pipes and rails.
Either way our list of suggested resorts for boarders should have all the obvious resorts covered.
Best resorts for terrain parks include Les Arcs, Avoriaz, Cervinia, Lech, Mayrhofen and Meribel. In Switzerland the resorts of Saas Fee and St Moritz should have you buzzing.
For boarders who like to ski on and off piste, top of the “To board list” should be Whistler, Vail, Mammoth and some of the resorts in Utah are fantastic if you are planning a transatlantic snowboarding holiday to North America.
In Europe the big favourites are Chamonix, Serre Chevalier, St Anton, Cervinia Tignes, Les Arcs and Verbier are an idea choice.
