Ski Holidays in Bohinj

Situated high above Slovenia’s largest lake, it offers 22km of gentle pistes, featuring wide-open runs and scenic wooded trails ideal for honing your skills. And the breathtaking views of Triglav National Park that surround you are simply the icing on the cake.
The resort itself is a collection of charming villages nestled between the pine-covered mountains and the shores of Lake Bohinj. Ribčev Laz is the most convenient option, just a 10-minute ride on the free ski bus to the cable car. For a bit more in terms of hotels and dining options, consider staying in Bohinjska Bistrica or Bohinjska Jezero, both located a bit further down the road.
No matter where you stay, evenings in Bohinj are all about relaxation. After a day on the slopes, unwind with a drink at the Macesen bar at the base of the Vogel cable car. Then, retreat to your hotel for a soothing sauna or swim, and enjoy a leisurely evening of good food and wine.

Why Ski in Bohinj?
Boasting the biggest natural lake in Slovenia and some extraordinary scenery, Bohinj is a lovely skiing resort with village charm which is set in the Julian Alps.
The main ski areas are Vogel and Kobla, accessed via ski bus and located in the Triglav National Park. There are around 50km of runs in total here, with the majority suited to intermediates and beginners.
Being in Slovenia most things here are quite cheap, so this is definitely a good place for a budget ski holiday or first time ski holiday if you don’t mind the bus rides to the slopes. Ski Line offer half board hotels in Bohinj, one of which is set on the banks of the Lake Bohinj.

Beginner skiers will find Vogel the best place to learn, with the nursery slopes on the plateau at the top of the cable car and the main base for the ski schools.
Intermediates skiing in Bohinj
There is a wide scope of choice for the intermediate skier in Bohinj, with access to both the Vogel and Kobla ski areas there are plenty of red runs to cruise down and tree-lined off piste sections to try out if you’re feeling confident.
Advanced skiing in Bohinj
Advanced skiing in Bohinj isn’t in the majority, as there is a limited supply of black runs available. However if you enjoy taking in the stunning landscape there are some long red runs here, one of which is as long as 8.5km!

If you’re learning to snowboard or perfecting techniques there’s a snowboard school here which provides cheap lessons and English speaking instructors. Most snowboarding is done in Vogel as it has it’s own terrain park, however Kobla also offers great runs for freeriders.
