Why Ski in Valmeinier?
Valmeinier is a small old traditional French village with a modern satellite centre which is where most visitors stay. Its based at 1800m with a ski range between 1500m to 2600m covering 150km of piste.
Valmeinier shares it ski area with the better know (at least to the British market) village of Valloire and is the largest of the ski areas with the Maurienne region.
Valmeinier will appeal to self drivers; it’s located just 17 miles from the motor way in the Maurienne valley and is an excellent choice for those looking to save money by visiting the less known ski resorts of France.
Ski Line has some very good rates through a German tour operator, particularly so in the half term week in February as the Germans don’t have a half term holiday in February. Ski Line offer hotels, and self catered chalets and apartments in Valmeinier.

The runs for advanced skiers and boarders is limited to just 9 black runs, some justify the rating. The most challenging runs are along the tree line so ideal if the weather closes in.
