Pashmina Hotel Val Thorens, France
The recently opened Hotel Pashmina is the latest addition to Val Thorens' ever-growing portfolio of 5* hotels. The hotel derives its name from pashmina wool, also known as ‘soft gold’. Pashmina is luxurious and elegant yet often used as a refuge against the elements and this is exactly what the hotel hopes to portray. It aims to be a relaxing, welcoming retreat from the stunning mountains on your doorstep.
With 42 rooms and suites and eight cosy homes, the hotel is small enough to offer a bespoke, personalised service yet large enough to provide a wide range of facilities. On-hand are two restaurants, Le Base Camp and Les Explorateurs (opening February 2016). Headed by Romuald Fassenet, who was awarded the Meilleur Ouvrier de France accolade (Best Craftsman in France), Les Explorateurs offers high-quality international cuisine, influenced by the mountains around the world. Le Base Camp will offer a more informal vibe and serve authentic delicacies in a relaxed setting.
There are a range of services on-hand to ensure that your stay runs seamlessly. There is a concierge service, room service and complimentary resort shuttle service for your ultimate convenience. Furthermore, the hotel boasts direct access to the slopes, which are easily accessible directly from the ski room.
The décor is heavily influenced by the surrounding mountains with a stylish blend of raw materials, such as stone and wood, and plush furnishings. A perfect example of this is in the relaxing bar area, complete with south facing terrace overlooking the slopes. The bar offers a great spot to curl up on an armchair next to the chimney or alternatively soak up the atmosphere whilst listening to live music. You may also wish to relax in the library lounge or visit the extensive spa area.
Fully equipped with an indoor swimming pool, steam room, sauna and Jacuzzi, the spa area offers a relaxing retreat after a day on the slopes. The 400m² Spa by L’Occitane offers a range of natural, authentic treatments and massages (payable locally) inspired by traditional techniques. For a truly unique experience you may wish to visit the igloo on the roof! This heated dome offers the rare opportunity to sleep under the Alpine stars from the comfort of your own bed.
