Beginners skiing in Serre Chevalier
All the main villages have nursery slopes with plenty of gentle runs to progress to as techniques are improved.
Intermediates skiing in Serre Chevalier
Serre Chevalier is a perfect choice for all intermediate skiers. When looking at the piste map the area seems full of red runs but many of these are easy and in other resorts might be blues and the slopes are normally perfectly groomed.
For stronger intermediates there is plenty to keep you smiling, many of the runs are wide enough to allow you to pick up your speed in safety with serveral large bowls where you can practice your carving turns. When the reds start to seem tame at the end of the week some of the blacks should challenge the more confident.
Advanced skiing in Serre Chevalier
Serre Chevalier will mainly appeal to the cruising type of advanced skier rather than those only concerned with pitch, although some of the blacks are genuinely steep, some dropping 800m so long too. For the off piste skier there is plenty, both high and in amongst the trees. La Voie Jackson run which is accessed from above Le Monetier that requires a short climb between the rocks and is worth the effort as it opens into a huge open bowl, but as always we recommend you book a guide whenever skiing away from the piste.
Après ski in Serre Chevalier
Night life in Serre Chevalier is mainly in bars with serveral playing music and some with live bands.
Activities off the slopes in Serre Chevalier
The old town of Briancon has a leisure centre with swimming pool, sauna’s, hot tubs and steam room and is worth a visit. Also visit the ice rink which has regular hockey matches. In Le Monetier the thermal baths are excellent. Ever fancied driving a piste basher? Well, you can have lessons here.
