Lake Louise is part of the stunning and huge ski area in the Banff region, and your Tri area ski pass includes skiing in Banff, which is 40 minutes free bus ride away. The local area offers 4,200 acres of skiing connected to 10 lifts, or nearly 8,000 acres in the full area. Queues midweek are not an issue but after heavy snow locals will join you on the mountain at weekends.
Lake Louise is a ski area suitable for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.
If stunning scenery is more important to you than nightlife, choose Lake Louise, but if you like to party after a day on the slopes choose Banff!
The snow conditions are usually good, partly due to the extreme cold temperatures, especially in January.
Advanced skiers are very well catered for in Lake Louise, with some excellent steep runs and good skiing in bowls. Almost 50% of the runs are classified as intermediate and ideal for cruising skiers. Total beginners can buy a package with a ski pass, lessons and equipment rental, there is a decent nursery area with 3 magic carpets and the progression slopes are very good.
