Why Ski in Solden?
The ski resort of Solden, in Austria, is known as the golden gate to the glacier. This village has great skiing and boarding as well as great evening après ski and entertainment. There are so many different choices of runs and fun parks to try out. Skiers will be able to ski the 147km of piste by day and then party late into the early hours. The town is spread across the valley with the main road through the middle. There are 2 gondolas in the village, one at each end, a free shuttle service runs to take you there. All of the slopes are mainly above the tree line but some of the red runs back to the village do weave through the trees on the way back down. The 2 areas, once up in the mountain, are linked by chairlifts than there are further lifts up to the glaciers.

Beginners skiing in Solden
The nursery slopes for the beginner skiers in Solden are situated just above Innerwald. The snow here is not great all year so you may find you want to go a little higher to the beginner blue runs which you’ll find in Giggijoch.
Intermediates skiing in Solden
Intermediate skiers will love this area as a lot of the runs are red. There are a few easy black runs for the more confident Intermediate skier. For those you like a nice fast cruise down the mountain the Gaislachalm is a must.
Advanced skiing in Solden
There are black runs in the ski resort of Solden, not the most challenging but you will find some areas quite vertical. There are plenty of off piste areas to cover but a guide is recommended.
Snowboarding in Solden
Solden is a good area for more experienced boarders. The free riding is great here. The drag lifts in the area can all be avoided with careful planning. The Terrain here is great and beginners should not necessarily be put off but will need to plan their routes carefully.
Après ski in Solden
The Après Solden is extremely lively. With 45 Ski bars you will not be short of places to go. There are a further 8 discos so be prepared to party hard late into the night or the early hours of the morning. The outstanding selection of restaurants on offer in Solden is amazing, most types of cuisine can be found here.

For non skiers there is a swimming pool in Solden and also an ice skating rink. You could always try ice climbing or go on a sleigh ride, these can all be arranged locally in resort.
