Why Ski in Ellmau?
The ski resort of Ellmau is a friendly and pretty resort which is situated at the North east section of SkiWelt, which is the largest mountain circuit in Austria. This area is linked to many different slopes by 94 lifts and you will find 250km of skiable pistes there. The village is quite compact but the accommodation is spread across the area and the local buses through the resort are well organised. The village has a cosy atmosphere and a good selection of shops and friendly cafés and bars. A funicular railway to the edge of the village will take you to Hartaiser, from here you can take the long red run that leads you to the Scheffau’s lifts. Ellmau has a very pleasant area of slopes on Astberg which is set away from the main area which families and the not so adventurous skiers will find perfect for them.
