Why Ski in El Tarter?
Located a few miles along from Soldeu, the ski resort of El Tarter is ideally situated for the 200km of runs available in the Grandvalira ski area. With the centre of the resort surrounding the main gondola and chair lift, access to the pistes is easy.
Skiing or boarding in the area surrounding El Tarter is great for almost any level. With plenty of nursery and beginners’ slopes, pretty tree lined red runs and a few challenging black runs, staying in El Tarter is perfect for groups with mixed abilities.
The ski resort of El Tarter itself is at 1710m, but the majority of runs are higher up at levels of 2100m in Riba Escorxada and even up to 2465m in some areas like Tosa dels Espiolets.
If you want to explore the Grandvalira area, the free ski bus service runs regularly between the resorts so you can take full advantage of the different lifts and runs available. A Grandvalira lift pass can be purchased so you can make full use of the large ski area.

Beginners skiing in El Tarter
Some good beginners’ slopes can be found throughout the resort and especially in the Tosa del Espiolets area. If you’re a complete beginner, the ski school in El Tarter will teach you the basics and boost your confidence, with English speaking instructors helping you all the way.
Intermediates skiing in El Tarter
Plenty of long, wide red runs are awaiting intermediate skiers, some difficult and challenging, some easier and more gentle. However if you purchase a lift pass to cover the whole area, you can explore and find the runs that best suit your level.
Advanced skiing in El Tarter
For advanced skiers, the immediate area surrounding the ski resort of El Tarter can seem quite limiting, however venture out towards Tossal de le Llosada and Riba Escorxada and you will find some exhilarating black runs and lots of fun off-piste skiing. The Grandvalira area is also home to one of Europe’s largest mogul fields, the Stadibumps.

The ski resort of El Tarter boasts the fantastic ACG Snowpark Tarter, home to rails, jumps and half-pipes, and has a viewing area where you can admire the skills of your fellow boarders! The varied runs throughout the resort are also excellent for the keen boarder.
Après ski in El Tarter
Après ski in the ski resort of El Tarter is quite limited with only a few bars and restaurants available, so if you’re looking for a resort with lots of nightlife this might not be the resort for you. However, the nearby ski resort of Soldeu has a wide range of bars and clubs where you can dance the night away.

For non-skiers, there are a few things to do in El Tarter off the slopes.
