Chalet 1597 is probably one of the finest chalets available to rent in the Alps. The owners of this luxury ski chalet which is located in the much-favoured ski resort of Lech, have cleverly managed to retain many of the original features and with creative flair, have combined these with antique pieces, and deep comfy furniture with luxurious fabrics to create a very chic and charming alpine home.
In 2014, chalet 1597 was awarded as Austria’s Best Ski Chalet at the World Ski Awards and is surely this swanky Austrian ski resorts top ski chalet.
Chalet 1597 is available for weekly rentals, either as self-catered (rentals are around €20,000 per week) or fully staffed, with a chalet manager, chef, chauffeur/driver and chalet host. Staff are available between 8:00 am and 1:00 am. The catered and staffed weekly rentals start at around £40,000.
It’s perhaps unsurprising that chalet 1597 is almost fully booked for this winter, there are a couple of weeks in March and April which are still available. Prices for the 2021 ski season will be announced in March 2020 when bookings will be open for the coming season.
Lech is Austria’s most upmarket ski resort and offers one of the biggest ski areas
The chalet is located in the popular Austrian ski area of the Arlberg. This ski area is regarded as one of the top ski destinations in the world. The ski area covers 305km of piste which it shares with St Anton and is a mecca for off-piste skiers as it’s regarded as one of the best for lift-served off-piste skiing and snowboarding.
Located in the Stubenbach area of Lech, it’s possible to ski near to the chalet from the Rüfikoft ski area on a marked off-piste run.
Set over three floors, the chalet comfortably sleeps 12 guests in five spacious en-suite bedrooms. The master suite boasts its own large drawing/study room and en-suite bathroom with free-standing roll-top bath.
One of the popular features of this luxury chalet is the terrace which enjoys sun all day long and is perfectly situated to take in the breath-taking views.
The cosy living area is a lovely venue in which to relax after dinner, or perhaps you may like to watch a film in the cinema room? The chalet also boasts a spa area including a bio sauna with relaxation area which is the perfect spot to unwind and watch the sunset over the stunning mountain skyline of Lech. There is a wonderful private massage room and also a hot tub outside, perfect for relaxing those aching muscles after a hard day on the slopes.
There are 2 entrances to this chalet on the ground floor, either into the winter wet room or directly into the living room. The winter wet room is furnished with boot heaters and has a separate guest toilet.
A fireplace is located in the dining room which is catered from the separate, well-equipped kitchen. The living room features a Tyrolean Stube (traditional heating oven). The stylish cinema room, which is perfect for entertaining the children, is accessed from the living room.
Also located on the ground floor is the spa area with bio sauna glass relaxation area. A large twin/double bedroom, with dressing area and en-suite bathroom, is also located on this floor.
Stairs lead from the dining room to the upper hallway which features a card playing area and reading nook. Four bedrooms are located on this floor. The first master bedroom with separate sitting area and en-suite bath and shower room; a second master bedroom with en-suite shower room; and a twin bedroom with en-suite shower room.
This bedroom is a charming en-suite children’s room with four single beds.
Stairs lead down from the dining room to the traditional stone wine cave and tasting room. The laundry room and garage, with parking for one vehicle, are also located on the lower floor (vehicle height restrictions apply). Two additional exterior parking spaces are available as well as the one interior space.
