It’s taken 20 years for this unloved slopeside chalet hotel to be reborn into 16 luxurious chalet suite apartments and Ski Line are delighted to finally be able to offer it to our clients for the 2025/26 ski season.
Plagne Centre has always been, in my view, the best-connected of all the La Plagne villages that make up this fantastic ski area.
“Back in the day, the Chalet Hotel Graciosa was a hit with skiers looking for a cheap last-minute ski holiday,” says Mal Sargeant, a member of Ski Line’s sales team. “Perched on the edge of the piste leading down to Plagne Centre’s main lifts, its location was unbeatable. At the time, the hotel was owned and operated by Ski Olympic, known for offering great-value stays—provided you could overlook its rather tired and faded appearance. But despite its modest looks, thousands of our clients stayed there, and no one ever complained about the location!”
Despite its prime setting, the hotel sat on the market for years without a buyer.
As far back as 2005, Andy Sturt, owner of our partners at VIP Ski, and our dear friend the late Bertrand de Monvallier, co-founder of Oxygène Ski School, attempted to purchase the building. However, they were unable to persuade the owner to sell at a price that would justify the significant investment needed to restore it to its full potential.
Seventeen years later, Bertrand’s brother, Charles de Monvallier, who runs a successful property rental business in La Plagne, finally acquired the building—along with additional land. His first-choice partner for the project was none other than Andy Sturt and VIP Chalets.
Together, with the backing of a new investor, they pursued an even more ambitious vision: demolishing the old Chalet Hotel Graciosa and replacing it with a six-floor luxury apartment complex running alongside the Mont St. Saveur piste, seamlessly linking to the town and lift system.
While Graciosa’s unbeatable location has always been its biggest selling point, the new development takes it to another level. Each apartment now features a private balcony with stunning valley views—and, for the ultimate après-ski indulgence, its own Jacuzzi. Local interior designer Richard Crow has masterfully blended old and new, incorporating traditional timber with modern comforts to create spaces that are both stylish and practical for skiers.
Ski Line is delighted to offer 16 brand-new private suites, each accommodating between 4 and 15 guests, delivering the ultimate modern luxury: space. The development also boasts top-tier facilities, including a lounge, bar, ski hire shop, massage room, and dedicated childcare services. Paired with their signature service and expert concierge team, we’re committed to ensuring a seamless, stress-free ski experience.
It’s bittersweet that Bertrand never got to see this dream realized, but his legacy lives on in this incredible transformation.
