‘Well heeled’ clients and Lottery winners looking for the finest ski chalet to stay in with first class service should consider Val d’Isere and the Chalet Marco Polo for their next ski trip.
The French ski resort of Val d’Isere is one of the top ski resorts anywhere in the world, a vast ski area connected to Tignes covering some 300km of pristine pistes and kilometre after kilometre of wonderful off piste skiing routes in valleys where nobody skis. The Marco Polo is, quite simply one of the finest homes to rent anywhere.
We asked our Luxury travel consultant Mal Sargent to put together a Luxurious ski holiday for an imaginary Lottery winner and 10 close friends, a kind of dream brief for Mal.
Here’s what Mal came up with!
I’ve had a few clients book the Chalet Marco Polo in Val d’Isere over the past couple of winters, so based on their feedback and the fact that this chalet has won the best Luxury ski chalet in the Snow awards for the past couple of years gives me tremendous confidence to put this chalet forward to our lucky Lottery winner to consider.
Inside Chalet Marco Polo
The chalet is massive, set over 1000 Square meters internally! To put that in perspective, the average sized 4 bedroom house in the UK is only 96.8 m2, so it’s 10 times the size, that’s pretty big for 10 adults.
Naturally the chalet Marco Polo has everything a good chalet should, its ski in ski out, has a hot tub, all the bedrooms have private bathrooms. However Millionaires and lottery winners always want a little more, so the chalet has an indoor swimming pool, let me change that to “one hell of a swimming pool’’ and a steam Hamman.
Now I can never understand why you would need a gym on a skiing holiday, isn’t skiing exercise enough? But chalet Marco Polo has one anyway, in fact the high tech gym has two of everything so you can workout in pairs.
The in house spa manager is available is available for up to 2 hours a day for complementary treatments, there are three treatment/ massage rooms.
Not many ski chalets can boast a wine cellar, even fewer have a cheese cellar too, chalet Marco Polo has both.
Luxurious comfort in deep fluffy sofas and dreamy nights on hand made mattresses
No expense has been spared in the furnishing of Chalet Marco Polo, the owners tastes are reflected in the not just the furnishings but the original art that adorns the chalets walls. There are plenty of spaces to kick back and relax in the chalet from the cinema TV room with open fire, to the more formal lounge area and the play room complete with bar and Pool table.
The chalet has a chauffeured vehicle available to get guests about the village to any ski lift or to the bars and clubs in the evenings.
How good is the food in Chalet Marco Polo?
Prior to any guests arriving at the chalet the chalet manger will have found out what you like and don’t like and we promise you lots of the things you love and nothing that you don’t. Every meal at Chalet Marco Polo is especially designed for you. The chef’s passion for fine food will be obvious.
The day starts with a full cooked breakfast with all the trimmings before hitting the slopes. After the skiing the hunger always kicks in so the chef will have ready scrumptious cakes and biscuits and tea, coffee and the house champagne will flow freely.
The evening meal is a real event, only the finest ingredients are used to create mouth-watering dishes and feedback from past clients has always been glowing.
Adding in a day of extra fun on the slopes
Ski Line have been working with Oxygène ski school for many years, we love the way this English speaking ski school is run by hard working brothers that own the business. Oxygène offer a wonderful off piste excursion called the Tarentaise Tour you’ll need to be fit and experienced off-piste skier to tackle the Tarentaise Tour?
You’ll ski from 9-5 both on and off-piste, taking in eight ski resorts including Val d’Isere, Tignes, Champagny, La Plagne, Montchavin, Peisey Nancroix, Les Arcs, and Villaroger. For a group of 10 skiers like our lucky millionaire and his friends, we would book two of Oxegenes experienced mountain guides, who will supply all the required equipment including Transceivers and air bags and will arrange your transfer back to Val d’Isere at the end of the day.
