Unfortunately, yet another scam website is trying to rip skiers off. The website is offering high-end chalets in France and Switzerland. Every year we report how fraudsters are trying to rip off skiers.
A very unhappy group contacted us today to ask if we knew how they could contact a company called bnb-ski after paying them £3,000, for a ski chalet they had been told is normally sold for £30,000. We understand that the holiday was paid by credit card, so we advised the buyer to do a credit card chargeback. Hopefully, they will be refunded in full. But we suspect others may have paid by bank transfer making refunds very unlikely.
The scammers also created fake Trust Pilot reviews to make the business look legitimate, however since these fake reviews were published, 2 have since reported that the website is a scam.
The images posted on bnb-ski website had been copied from legitimate websites including some of our partner’s websites. We have reported the fraud to them.
The above image is a chalet in Courchevel 1850 called Ajacour, a legitimate chalet. The image was copied and reported to be a (Fake) ski chalet called Edelweiss on the scam website.
It’s easy to check a photo by using Google to do a reverse image search. Follow the instructions below. Most fraudsters will use real photos of chalets but rename them and often claim that they are located in a different ski resort.
Reverse Image Search (Find Similar Images or Identify a Photo)
If you have an image and want to find similar images or more details about it:
On Desktop (Google Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari)
- Go to Google Images.
- Click the camera icon in the search bar (🔍📷).
- Choose one of these options:
- Paste image URL: If the image is online, right-click it, copy the image address, and paste it.
- Upload an image: Click “Upload a file” and select an image from your computer.
- Click Search to find similar images or sources.
