Balkan Holidays Ceases UK Operations

That’s why it’s with heavy hearts we share the news that one of our long-standing partners, Balkan Holidays, the Bulgarian ski holiday specialists, has officially closed its doors in the UK, effective 24th April 2025.

After nearly 60 years of serving British holidaymakers, Balkan Holidays Ltd has announced it will no longer be operating in the UK market.

A spokesperson for Balkan holidays said “While this marks the end of an era, we want to reassure all our clients that current holidays abroad are unaffected, and all forward bookings will be refunded in full.”

Dan Woodley, Ski Lines marketing manager said “Balkan Holidays built a reputation on variety and value, offering everything from sun-soaked beach holidays to winter escapes to the ski destinations of Bulgaria via direct charter flights to Sofia. They flew from 17 UK airports, more than any other UK tour operator and served over 130,000 travellers a year at their peak.”

We echo the sentiments of Managing Director Alexander Stoyanov, who shared his sadness at the closure and expressed deep gratitude to the loyal customers, travel agents, and staff who supported the brand over the decades. “It is really sad that the company should cease trading in the UK after all these years. The company is solvent, but it has become increasingly difficult to be competitive and profitable in the UK,” he stated.

The company has confirmed it is not in liquidation and is prioritising refunds by departure date. We ask for patience as these are processed.
