Ski Holidays in Bardonecchia

The small ski resort of Bardonecchia is located on the border between France and Italy, it’s Italy’s westernmost village at the heart of the Alps.

In 2006 Bardonecchia hosted the Turin Winter Olympics snowboarding competitions, and still includes some of the features from the event.

The ski range is between 1290m and 2695m, and Bardonecchia village is located at 1310m.

The ski area is divided into three areas- Campo Smith, Melezet and Jafferau and offer over 100km of groomed pistes. All are connected by free buses. The majority of the pistes in the area are a close mix of easy cruising blue runs, and some red runs that offer a few more challenges making this an ideal destination for intermediate skiers of all levels.

The resort is quiet and relatively uncluttered during the week, but at weekends because of its excellent road and rail links, when the snow is good the locals from nearby Turin can make the slopes busy at weekends. During the week it’s quieter so it’s is easy to enjoy your time on the snow uninterrupted.

There are only 5 black runs throughout the entire resort which will limit the appeal to advanced skiers, but this is compensated for with an outstanding freestyle terrain park located on Melezets which includes the Olympic halfpipe, 80 rails and jibs, and 20 jumps.

Away from the slopes, the highlights of Bardonecchia are its excellent choice of restaurants. Some serve up delicious Italian food. For a small resort, there is a huge variety of venues on offer. Après ski culture is on the quiet side’ its all about the skiing here.
