If you are looking for a ski resort with its own small area but with access to a larger ski area. Galtur could be for you. A 10-minute free bus ride connects Galtur with the popular and larger Austrian ski resort of Ischgl. Galtur itself is an attractive valley located at the head of the Paznaun valley, famous for its excellent snow record, just 90 minutes from Innsbruck airport.
Together these two ski areas add up to 340km of skiing. The ski range is between 1400m and 2872m with 5 gondolas, 1 cable car, 25 chair lifts and 13 drag lifts. You can night ski in Galtur.
The skiing is suitable for all levels of skiers and snowboarders with 47km of blue terrain, 153km of reds and 27 km of black runs. The slopes face all directions, ideal for catching the southern sun in the mornings and the north facing slopes in the afternoon, meaning you can always find good snow.

Why Ski in Galtur?
The ski resort of Galtur is a quiet village, described as one of Austria best kept secret’s, this delightful place has a traditional feel and is in the Silvretta Mountains. This ski resort is very good for families for its all round good value. There are lots of activities other than skiing like ice skating and the sports centre. Just a short bus ride away from the more famous Ischgl ski resort, the ski pass will cover both areas as Galtur is a small ski area you may want to travel across the larger ski area. The ski area is served by chair lift and t bar, it can also offer some great off piste skiing for the more advanced skiers, Beginners and intermediate skiers will love the slopes as it can offer good nursery slopes and other harder runs.

Beginners skiing in Galtur
The nursery slopes on the mountain of Idalp are great for the beginners. A short, free bus ride to Ischgl will allow you to make you way there.
Intermediates skiing in Galtur
Intermediates will enjoy the easy black runs here. With a full area lift pass to allow you to Idalp which opens up to loads of red and blue runs to work your way across this lovely terrain.
Advanced skiing in Galtur
There are a some challenging black runs here. The off piste skiing is a must for advanced skiers in Galtur.
Snowboarding in Galtur
This Ski resort has become very boarder friendly in recent years with some very good boarding facilities here. Idalp has a great half pipe. A terrain park can also be found here with Rails, Quarter pipe and boarder cross. There is a separate childrens’ area for the young ones to grow in confidence this has Snakes, waves and a mild jump.
Après ski in Galtur
The Après the village of Galtur itself is limited but the free bus service over to Ischgl will allow you to enjoy the bars and restaurants in the busier town.
Activities off the slopes in Galtur
There are non ski activities within the village of Galtur, Ice skating and the sports centre are good for non skiers. You can travel to Ischgl for further off the slope activities.
