Independently Run Ski Chalets
As well as offering package ski chalet holidays we also deal with 59 specially selected small independently owned and run chalet operators that provide just the catered chalet accommodation, leaving you to arrange your own travel arrangements. Like other catered chalets, meals are provided on six nights, and on the staff night off you dine at your own expense locally.
Some of our independently run ski chalets operate just one chalet and in some cases, it will be the business owner who runs it. Feedback from clients about these chalets is normally very positive. Others might have 20+ chalets in several different ski resorts run by specially selected staff. In total, we offer over 450 independently run catered chalets that can be booked without any travel. (See a selection of them listed below)
Financial protection when booking an independent ski chalet
As part of Ski Lines due diligence we carry out financial checks on all our suppliers to ensure nothing unforeseen affects your holiday enjoyment, naturally, any holiday booked with Ski Line Limited is financially protected with our ABTA or ATOL licences. So when you book a ski holiday through Ski Line you have 100% piece of mind. Most accommodation suppliers don’t offer direct booking clients any form of financial protection in the event of the business failing, but if you book the same ski holiday through Ski Line your holiday will be protected by our ABTA membership.

Getting to your independently run ski chalet
Booking a catered ski chalet without flights can work to your advantage if you are able to book flights as soon as they come on sale you can get a real bargain, even on peak dates. Many other clients are happy to self-drive. Airlines such as Easyjet, Swiss and BA launch their prices for flights to Geneva, Turin, Grenoble and Lyon some 10 months before the start of the ski season and by booking this early you can secure very low-cost flights even on peak dates.
Self-drivers normally prefer in winter to use the Euro Tunnel crossing, as even in poor weather crossings are not cancelled as ferry crossings can be.
Ski Line can book Euro Tunnel crossings for you. It’s about an 8-hour drive to reach most alpine ski resorts from Calais in Northern France. Budget on about €85 for the cost of motorway tolls (return). Fuel is often cheaper in Europe, but this could depend on exchange rates.
Eurostar now operates trains to both Borg St Maurice and Lyon, these are direct services from London and need to be booked early. As the service always sells out and it’s very unusual for seats to be available in the late market. There is a cheaper option, taking a Eurostar service to Paris and then changing train/station in Paris. This can be up to 20% cheaper and could be the only option if you don’t book early. Ski Line are able to book train travel for you.
